My new spring bird painting and the guest room makeover that went with it.
Over Spring Break we took a short trip to Nana & Papa's house. While we were there the guys started building a new patio out back before the rain came and Nana and I worked on a little re-decorating project inside. The girls also got in on the creativity when Nana let them paint bird houses for the yard.
The guest room that the grand-kids usually stay in was our focus.
The bed spread was our starting point. Once we found the quilted floral design with the colors we liked best everything else fell into place quite quickly. The bedding is a mix of two sets. The floral from Marshall's and the solid coral orange colored quilted set from Ross. *Both were purchased for less than half the price of the original design we wanted from a catalog. Score! And didn't have to wait for or pay for shipping either.
The green pillow is from Pier One and it is very soft and plush.
Blue pillow was one she already had stored in a closet and it perfectly coordinated. Love when that happens.
Lamp is from Lowe's filled with delicate coral orange floral stem from Pier One.
Here is a quick pic I took of the room "before"...well, kinda during the clean out process, but you get the gist of it.
And here is the same angle shot "after".
This is the dresser that I sanded down and painted a gorgeous shade of blue.
Some of our accessories: metal tray 60% off at Michaels. Mercury glass timer Hobby Lobby. Greenery and vase from Marshall's along with the blue candle. Ceramic bird...already had. Coral flowers added to the arrangement are from the same bunch as in the lamp.
*Shelves from Michael's. Greenery and vase from Tuesday Morning. Yellow ring holder from Hobby Lobby.
I love this side table she has that was actually made from an old sewing table base and sewing cabinet drawers.
And it is so fun how the lamp we picked out can be decorated countless different ways by filling it with creative items during each season or to celebrate holidays.
Here are a few close ups of my spring bird painting.
