Summer 2017 Fine Arts Camp

I am thrilled to announce that this summer I get to partner with two extremely talented local instructors in the month of June to host our very first Fine Arts Camp for kids!

Donna Kramer-Almon, owner and instructor at Fierce Motions in Dance in Van Alstyne, TX has opened her fantastic dance studio as the perfect location for this week long camp. Our music instructor, Adrienne Hopper is a local worship team leader in her church and has taught piano to children for several years.

Together we are excited to deliver a week long adventure in exploring dance, music and art to the young people of our community. We hope to inspire a love and appreciation for the arts that these children can carry with them as they grow.

Sing, dance and create all week long!

Kids Summer Art Camp - Part 2

Well, I had to be away from my computer for a while but I'm finally getting the "Part 2" of our awesome Art Camp pictures posted. Hope you enjoy. I know we sure did!

These kids were fantastic and so very creative!

We studied Matisse and cut paper paintings, Monet and creating waterlilies in 3-D with egg cartons and acrylics (fingerprint painting dots of analogous colors to look Impressionistic)

They laughed and cheered and made the whole week so much fun!

We studied artists like Romero Britto, Piet Mondrian, Laurel Burch and Mark Rothko!

They created shimmering foil art with markers and "color field" paintings with pastels.

They made their own little newspaper pet collages, created "A Mixed Media Community" sculptural wall hanging and also experimented with weaving.

They embraced each new challenge and I was super impressed at how much information they retained as I randomly quizzed them through the week.

One of the best parts on the last day was hearing the kids talking about where they were going to hang their artworks in their homes or how they were going to give a special piece to a family member as a surprise gift.

 

Throughout the week we had a scripture verse that Ms. Jenna worked with the kids on memorizing.

I hope they will take this with them and hold tight to the truth in these words:

 

"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

Kids Summer Art Camp 2013 - Part 1

 

My two best little "Project Testers" put on their aprons and went along with me using them to try stuff out the week before art camp. It is a LOT of prep-work but sooooo worth it! We are having a fantastic time at camp this summer!

 

The kids are so stinkin' cute! Their creativity always brings a smile to my heart.

 

One of our first big projects was making Owls with air dry clay.



Wow! Can I put all of these on my refrigerator please.

 

Carley has been rockin' it as my helper each day. She is a superstar for doing the morning and afternoon sessions and keeping such a cheerful disposition the whole time.

Older kids studied Wayne Thiebaud and we made colorful ceramic cupcakes.

 

We also studied Louise Nevelson and had the most fun when all the kids brought in bags of "treasure" to make assemblages. Super cool!

We loved them even before spray painting them.



 

 We also did some still life drawing, "simon says" artworks, and watercoloring.

 

And that's only the first two days!

Summer 2012 in Review... Post #3 Art Camp

Another super exciting part of my summer was Art Camp 2012!

I had the opportunity to lead a three day camp full of all kinds of art projects for kids ages K-5th grade. We drew pictures with glue, made fish out of clay, cut papter and created collages, got messy fingers with pastels and painted with watercolors and acrylics! It was awesome, and I can't wait to do it again next summer!
