My Art Therapy

Sometimes the thing we need is not so much the end result as the process.

Art is a lovely form of therapy for the creative soul to express the things that won't come out in words.

To let go of all that needs to be released.
To reveal what we hold inside.
To laugh, to cry, to shout.
To turn up the music and let the paint brush dance.
I become immersed in the free flow of color and texture and personal expression.

The colors and textures of an extremely fulfilling art therapy session.

"The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him."  - Exodus 15:2

My Newly Re-organized Studio

This room has experienced many changes over the past few years to accommodate my ever growing collection of "things I need" and "stuff I've made".

So, as mentioned in my earlier post, here are the pictures of my most recent re-organizing efforts:

Maybe I can keep it nice and neat.......
at least when I'm not in the middle of a dozen different projects anyway.

Ha, ha! Well, I'll have these photos anyway. ;D

A Sophisticated Little Girl's Bedroom.... With Horses!

I worked this week on painting lovely custom silhouettes of horses.
I designed the silhouettes of the little girl to resemble the sweet girl who calls this room her own, and I'm very pleased with the way it all came together.

Thank you Tenneil for inviting me to be a part of this special room design.

To begin, I worked a few drawings of what the client wanted. Once they were ready and approved I projected the finished artworks on the wall to get the perfect size and position and sketched them with a white pencil.
Then I began painting. I used two coats of a water borne alkline interior paint.

The end result is a beautiful statement piece for a lovely growing young girl's room.
I love the way it looks with the other colors and patterns in the room.

Remember this bedding set I created back in December. ;)

A Holiday Open House Party

My college roommate, who is a very dear friend of mine hosted a Holiday Open House this past weekend and invited me to be one of her vendors. I was so blessed to be a part of the event and got to spend the day with a group of really great ladies. Thank you Abby.

This was my booth display, with some of my new artwork.

I spent most of last week creating new stuff for this party..... unfortunately not everything got photographed. Here are a couple of things though (they will soon be listed in my etsy shop).

Thanks again Abby. We may have to make this a holiday tradition.
Love ya roommate! ;)

Rainy Day Art Post

It's a wonderful cold rainy day here and I really feel like I need to make something in my crock pot and bake something tonight.... mmmm.

Well, I thought I'd post some Art today. I recently rearranged my studio a little bit and I really like the new set-up. Here's what it looks like (while it's all still really clean and I don't have projects and supplies haphazardly strewn all over the place).

I also have been practicing some up-cycling with old clothing lately.
Here is one project I especially enjoyed.
I took a t-shirt that I never wore and did some creative cutting....

Then re-attaching in a new way...... and here's the result.

Ok, well that's all for now. Have a fantastic day. I'm going back to daydreaming of yummy comfort foods to start cooking. I LOVE this cool Fall weather..... now if I could only stay home all day in my jammies and really enjoy it. ;) Here's looking forward to Thanksgiving Break!
