Date Night - Couples Painting Party

This is the example/demonstration painting I did for a recent couples painting party.
And here is a little something I wrote that goes along with what we created:

I love you
day and night,
night and day,
always and forever.

I love the home we share,
the life we've built,
the memories we've made together.

I prepared black canvases for each couple and lightly sketched the basic outlines of the artwork in white charcoal.

The couples had gone out to dinner and I got there a little early to set everything up. As soon as they arrived we got started. About half way through we took a break and the hostess had coffee and dessert for everyone. (Yep, they even shared with me. YUM!)

Thank you to these brave and fun-loving couples for inviting me to be a part of "date night"!
You guys are awesome. ...except for....well, nevermind. Yep. You're all pretty good. ;)

Sunflowers - A Bridal Shower Painting Party

I love doing Artful Gatherings and this one was no exception. In fact, it was a really special gathering because it was a bridal shower party. The bride-to-be loves sunflowers and since she would be using them in her summer wedding the hostess of the shower asked if I could lead them in painting sunflowers with the idea that the canvases could be hung as part of the decor in the wedding reception area! What a brilliant idea! I was thrilled to get to lead this party with such a fun group. They did an amazing job!

So, here we go.

I started with a blank canvas just like they did, with only an outline of our image sketched on in pencil. We began with the background color and then worked our way through the stems, petals and centers of the flowers before finally putting in final details and extra shading.

Here are their gorgeous finished paintings!

Introducing Artful Gatherings

I feel so blessed to have been able to host my first Artful Gatherings painting event this weekend.

Thank you to my sweet friend Ashley who invited me to be a part of a fun children's ministry event.
The kids were completely adorable and they created such beautiful works of art to take home.
I look forward to doing many more Artful Gatherings!

I've created a page on my blog with all of the information about Artful Gatherings. Please take a moment and give it a look, maybe I can host an event for you.

Here are the talented kiddos from my innaugural event! Yay!

What a great looking group of young artists!
